Holistic Lifestyle Coaching

Vitality – Health – Wellness – Through Your Food and your Lifestyle!!!

  • How great do you feel when you wake up in the morning?
  • Do you get the middle of the afternoon energy slump at work?
  • Do you struggle with colds and flu during the winter months?
  • Hows your sex life? Too tired or just plain lack of interest?
  • Are you always on the go? Never have anything to do? Do you know how to actually relax?
  • Do you get bloated? Constipated? Suffer with diarrhoea? Get bad headaches?
  • Have you ever been taught how your food choices affect you? Or have you been left to fend for yourself? Do you find that what you eat does not fulfil you or sustain you and you have to keep on eating more to keep yourself going?
  • How many meals or snacks a day do you skip?
  • Have you ever dieted before?

In today’s fast-paced world of go-go-go and people always demanding our attention, these become just some of the factors that will totally affect the way your body operates at a biochemical level. Your biochemistry is your body’s version of the working parts of your car – your food is the fuel you give it. Society today dictates that we treat ourselves like machines and that we ignore the simple signs that begin to show us that we should be looking at our health more seriously. If our car runs out of fuel it just stops – but our bodies don’t stop; they start to “steal” energy from other parts of the body. This is like the cylinders in your car engine running without lubrication. After a while they will explode and burst through the engine casing. This is the stage when your body will start to break down with injuries, illnesses and fatigue – and now, like your car, IT WILL STOP.

Holistic Lifestyle Coaching teaches you how to take charge of your life again through focusing on your health. Being healthy gives you all the added benefits of great concentration, meeting sales targets, keeping your family healthy and in great shape, getting rid of unwanted fat, removing the bump that just won’t flatten, improves the sex life and will even help you look younger for longer!!

Over the last 10 – 25 years so much has changed in our lives, including the health and fitness industry. However, its information overload and people struggle to make good choices – even when they are trying to be informed because the information they are getting may not be the best for them to make these decisions with. Making sense of what is good or bad, correct or wrong is no easy decision – be it exercise or be it the right kind of food we are supposed to eat. Have you noticed how every article or paper that comes out on food always promotes how all people should be eating a certain way. This raises serious concerns – surely someone from India will naturally eat differently to an Eskimo – the issue here is that two different groups of people need totally different nutrients to operate at maximum biochemical levels. Feed an Eskimo on an Indian diet for a few days and he/she will fall ill – and vice versa! This is a very basic way of saying how different we all are. Essentially, as has been said in different ways by many, “one man’s food is another man’s poison” – as individual people we all have different stresses, cultures, daily events etc that affect us in different ways. And the same applies to food – we will all react in our own ways to what we put in our bodies – be it solid food or liquid!

Holistic Lifestyle Coaching will benefit you in the following ways by:

  • Providing an understanding of how every meal, bout of exercise and late night will affect you hormonally – and what hormones mean to your physical and emotional health and stability.
  • Teaching you about symptoms of disease and stress and how they can be treated through principles of proper eating, exercise and stress management.
  • Obtaining an understanding about how to identify what is good information about health and what is not.
  • You will be assessed in an overall manner in regards to your health and vitality to show you a picture of what your health really is – and what you can do to improve it.
  • You will learn methods for individualized eating strategies to enhance your physiology using metabolic typing with possible nutrient supplement suggestions to support this process.
  • You will learn about food quality, meal quantities, food allergies, when and how to rotate your foods, water and optimal hydration, exercises and environmental factors.
  • You will understand the correlation between the immune system and digestive health.
  • Recognise food and lifestyle habits as a therapeutic medium for maintaining and restoring health and wellness.
  • Aid in developing a plan of action to improve your health and vitality.
  • Implementation of emotional self-management protocols if the assessment shows a need
  • Identification of toxic exposure.
  • Learn what exercises to apply to balance the energy systems of the body.
  • Assessments of possible fungal or parasite infections.

Once all the information is collected, it will be time for you to start your journey. Change is a good thing and it is by change that all life moves forward. If you want your life to improve on all levels then Holistic Lifestyle Coaching is a tool that can benefit you.

Welcome, I look forward to having a fantastic time sharing your journey with you and I promise to do my best to help you reach your goals.

Golf Biomechanics

All golfers want to play better! And though many see the game as a chance to relax, relieve stress, do business and exercise, most don’t associate the need for improved physical conditioning with their performance. When they want to play better golf they generally assume they need a combination of professional lessons and more practice. Although this approach seems logical, it is the very reason so many end up injured and rarely reach their potential.

Most amateur golfers have passed their athletic prime, having instead entered their mental and financial prime. It is in this phase of life that many have taken up golf, a game that is technical and generally not considered an athletic event. Unfortunately, this common misconception results in injury and/or premature performance plateaus, frequently resulting in the decision to seek conditioning as a possible remedy.

Without a comprehensive understanding of the science of strengthening and conditioning, golfers commonly seek help from the bookstore or a local personal trainer. Following that advice, many notice an increase in physical conditioning, yet are dismayed there is no improvement in their golf performance. The inevitable result is abandonment of strengthening and conditioning to improve performance. Unfortunately, this is often the result of using programs based on bodybuilding and not functional exercise. (ref: Chek, Paul. Whole in One Training: Build a Better Game, Naturally. An EFI/Total Gym Publication, 1998)

The focus at Human Engineering is on the physical side of golf preparation (individual flexibility, functional stability, strength and power), which complements the technical expertise from your Golf Professional. Taking this approach has resulted in reduced golf handicaps, which is something our clients have enjoyed achieving.

Sports, Remedial, Deep Tissue & Clinical Massage Therapy

Sports Massage is a special form of massage and is typically used before, during, and after athletic events. The purpose of the massage is to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility and to prevent injuries.

Remedial massage is a holistic treatment; that is, a treatment for the whole of the body, as well as the area being treated.  The primary aim of Remedial Massage is to find and treat the cause of the disorder, not only the symptoms.

Deep Tissue Massage is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fibre's of the muscles, tendons and fascia. Deep tissue massage is used to release chronic muscle tension through slower strokes and more direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles not with the grain. Deep tissue massage helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness during or right after the massage. However, if the massage is done correctly you should feel better than ever within a day or two.

Clinical massage therapy is beneficial for patients who may suffer from the following dysfunctions: Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction, Fascial Plane Dysfunction, Neuromuscular Dysfunction, Tonus System Dysfunction, Dermatomic (pain in an area of the skin) and Spondylogenic Dysfunctions.
